Overview
Turn Lab is a ski instruction app designed with privacy in mind. We believe your learning journey is personal, and your data should stay that way.
Data We Collect
We do not collect or store any personal data on our servers.
- Local Storage Only: All your skill progress, assessments, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework.
- No Account Required: We don't require registration, login, or any personal information to use the app.
- No Tracking: We do not use analytics, advertising identifiers, or any tracking technologies.
AI Coach Feature
Turn Lab includes an AI-powered ski coach (Johnny or Paige) that can answer your skiing questions and provide personalized guidance. Here's how it works:
- AI Provider: The coach feature is powered by OpenAI's API.
- What We Send: When you chat with the coach, we send your message, conversation history (up to 20 messages stored locally), and context about your current skill level and progress to OpenAI.
- What We Don't Send: No personal information (name, email, location, device identifiers) is ever sent. The coach only knows about your skiing skills and assessments.
- Data Retention: Conversation history is stored locally on your device only. We do not store your conversations on any server.
- OpenAI's Privacy: Data sent to OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI may process messages to provide responses but does not use API data to train their models.
If you prefer not to use the AI Coach, all other app features work completely offline with no external data transmission.
In-App Purchases
- Premium purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store.
- We do not have access to your payment information.
- Purchase history is managed by Apple, not by us.
Data Storage
- All app data is stored locally on your device.
- Widget data is shared between the app and widget via App Groups (on-device only).
- There is no cloud sync or external servers.
Third-Party Content
Turn Lab includes links to YouTube videos for instructional content. When you tap to watch a video, you will be redirected to YouTube's app or website, which is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Turn Lab does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.
